Sexy Education, Moxie!

We decided to go ahead and do the sex ed panel thingie. It's in December, so we've got some time to prepare for any questions we might not know about.

We got a new puppy! We named her Moxie cause she's pretty spunky and it ends with a hard "e" sound, which people say works for dogs when they need to learn their names. She's super smart - she already knows how to sit. We're already working on handshake. Her ears are HUGE like a Mogwai.

That's Kat with her. I'm pretty stoked, cause Moxie and Quigley play together, instead of Quigley being all anxious and whiny because we don't want to play with him 24/7. So it's good for everyone.
So, there's this girl at work. She is driving me crazy. She put in her two weeks last week and I could not be happier.

I just needed to get that off my chest.

But seriously, things are still getting better, minus the crazy PMS I'm-going-to-kill-you-if-you-sneeze-at-me stuff right now.

Also, I hate the clinic I go to for therapy. They are really not very on the ball. This concerns me, as I'm going there to have my head worked on. They can't keep dates straight? How are they supposed to keep all of the issues in my life straight? I'm thinking of going to another therapist. I should give them another try, though. I've only gone the one time (because they screwed up my appointment).

Since I've been going hiking so much lately, I'm thinking I really want these. I want to have toe shoes so badly! I tried them on last winter, and they were weird, but absolutely fabulous to walk in. Super, super comfy. Since they're about $100, maybe for Christmas, eh?

Walksies.

Just finished up going walking with Quiggles in Johnson Park. I found a secret little treehouse! I had to cross two muddy channels to get to it, but it was worth it. What a view - straight out on to the river. I left a doggie poop bag (empty) flying bravely for the people who built it to see. Quiggles and I both got absolutely disgusting, and it was awesome. Except for those weeds that got stuck all over both of us. That wasn't very fun.

But it was so beautiful out there - a perfect warm day, with leaves falling like snowflakes all around. The forest floor was all orange; it was hard to see where the trail was, sometimes. Everything was crunchy and smelled like gentle decay. All in all, a good day.

Writer's Block: You've got the look

Which item in your wardrobe would shock the fashion police? Do you wear it in public?

Well, it's not so much one item of clothing as it is several non-matching items of clothing worn at the same time. I like wearing hunter orange stocking caps with striped pajama pants and a plaid button up shirt when wandering around the house, for instance.

If I were to go with one item, though, I guess it could be my corset...? It's a little taboo, right?

You Had Time, Ani DiFranco.

you are a china shop
and I am a bull
you are really good food
and I am full
I guess everything is timing
I guess everything's been said
so I am coming home with an empty head

Henry Vaughan.

(An excerpt from his poem, The World.)

I saw Eternity the other night
Like a great Ring of pure and endless light,
All calm, as it was bright,
And round beneath it, Time is hours, days, years
Driven by the spheres
Like a vast shadow mov'd, in which the world
And all her train were hurl'd.

Good House News.

So, the guy that made the offer in cash got the condo. We have one month from yesterday until closing on this property. We also made an offer on the house we liked from the last post (I'd show you again, but it's no longer listed). They accepted, and we close on both properties on the 9th. On the 19th, I graduate from college.

It is going to be a busy 30 days, let me tell you.

And I swear to god, the next person who whines about us getting this house is going to be stabbed in the eyeball with a fork. WE like it. WE will live there. WE don't really give a shit if you don't like it. WE think you can go fuck yourself if you're going to be that way.

That was helpful. I feel much better now.

English class.

Waiting for my English capstone class to start. Man, I hate this class. Every time I get ready, my stomach falls out on the floor. It's all I can do to scrape my intestines off the laminate and drag myself to this class.

Proposals, annotated bibliographies, and project management! Oh my!

Rural Queer Culture. Work.

Moonshine and Rainbows: Queer, Young and Rural.

Work sucked today; we got really busy and were not prepared. There were not enough people to work the spots. When people showed up, they whined about having to start working right away. I left shortly thereafter. Then, I showered. Then, Jonathan and I went to a few open houses. Then, we went to Mae's house and carted several very heavy boxes up steep steps. Then, we set most of it up on tables in her garage. Then, we went back inside, I crashed, and Jonathan helped Mae get her glassware down from the tops of her cupboards. Then, we came home and I took a very hot bath. Tomorrow is my third day in a row getting up way before dawn to work my ass off for no damn reason. After work, it's back to Mae's place to cart more stuff up steep steps. My labor day weekend is shot. I don't get to go tubing again until next summer - they took the boat out of the lake. Summer is closing down, and I'm trying to spin my cocoon for the months ahead.

It's only 823pm and I'm wiped out.

Thank you for sharing that link. I have so many issues with being rural and queer. Most of the queer people I know tell me to run from my rural homeplace. And people of my homeplace don't really…
