The lastest spring we have had in a while...

ImageWe have peas coming soon and onions. The tomatoes are blooming and there are some green ones. The peppers are growing and the cucumbers seem to be eaten up by something. We even have a bluebonnet patch in the backyard where I tossed out some seeds last winter. Now I am just waiting to put my sweater away. It has been such a cool spring. Paula will be home soon and the fun will start. Dad and I like the quiet, but LOVE the fun the kids bring when they come. I have a new calling in the Primary- 2nd counselor. I am over Cub Scouts, Activity Days, Baptisms, and 5 CRT classes. Oh, I visited a family that John and Melissa know to give them a baptism book. Left with mud all over my Sunday clothes. The dog decided to sit with me on the couch and cuddle after digging in a muddy ditch. Spring is rain, sunshine, mud, flowers. We like it all.

the Mexican Plum Tree

Image
This is a native to TX, grows from Oklahoma through Texas. It blooms white in the spring, has small, sour plums in late summer (perfect for jam) and orange leaves in the fall. Then it is bare in the winter. So I have my four seasons!!

I sure wish Grandma was feeling better. I think when she gets off her antibiotic she will feel better. It was a no fun Thanksgiving for her.

Last October Conference- grandkids and President Hinckley

Image
Time to realize that one of the best times of the year is coming- October Conference. I love the words of our prophets, apostles and leaders. This week was nice and cool and it reminded me of a quote from President Kimball that made a huge impression on me. I thought of it as I looked at the heads of these precious little boys.

"No mother would carelessly send her little children forth to school on a wintry morning without warm clothes to protect against the snow and rain and cold. But there are numerous fathers and mothers who send their children to school without the protective covering available to them through prayer- a protection against exposure to unknown hazards, evil people and base temptations."

Once I internalized this quote I could not bear to let you leave without a prayer, and when we were too disorganized to pray, I usually found a quick and quiet place to pray for that special covering to be over you.

Edd and Morris Napping, "So Happy Together!"

Image
After we went to Cabella's to see the animals, Edd was tired and needed a nap. Morris decided to join him. Now if you don't see the family resemblance you are blind.
