My Princess and the Frog

Smiles with Grandpa, on Halloween. From: Our Princess and Frog!ImageSugar was quite disappointed that, despite her best kissing abilities, Little Blue remained a frog all night.
Speaking of slippery little frogs: the day after Halloween, Blue slipped between my legs and the bed, landing perfectly on his feet and fracturing his right leg just inches above the knee. We spent Monday evening in the Emergency Room taking xrays and determining the extent of the damage. Hours later, we brought him home in a cast that runs from the bottom of his rump to the tip of his toes. Thankfully, 3 weeks in a cast and he should be as good as new. Poor little Prince. He needs all the kisses he can get!

My World!

Six years ago, on this very day, I married an amazing man.
This was the best decision I have ever made, and it is the pivotal moment that I can pinpoint to celebrate all that is good and sweet in my life today.
So, I'm sharing with you, the view from my eyes....
and these are "MY WORLD"!
Image Happy Anniversary! I love you, MY Handsome MAN.

And So It Goes.

Where does the time go?

Wasn't it just yesterday I was bringing home my beautiful little daughter from the hospital with feelings of anxiety and inadequacy and all those typical new mom feelings of "How do I do this?" What do I do if she cries or fusses or needs something and I'm out of reach?

Didn't that just happen?

Viva

I've given myself the goal that I would post an update once a month. Obviously, it's more of a wish than a goal! Because lately the months have been flying by with no updates. Sorry to the one reader who still checks in on my life and has been wondering where we've been and what we're doing.

Where have we been? Well.....Image ... Las Vegas! JP's Mom, Dad and little brother live there, so we spent a weekend with them.
Image We saw the water show at the Bellagio, which is my personal favorite thing to do there. I love the lights, and the water, shooting in beautiful patterns, playing in sequence with music! It's so refreshing in a place that never seems to cool off. Sugar didn't share my affection for it. She was more concerned for the ducks that were there on the pond before the fountains started, and worried the whole time that they were not alright. She craned her neck to see them instead of watching the show. They needed to be safe! OK. She gets her 'animal love' from Grama Memo!

Image This is how Blue experienced Vegas for the first time. In the stroller, mostly!

Image The Conservatory at the Bellagio was beautiful, too. Of course, we had to find the FROG made entirely of flowers to be truly happy. Recently, Sugar's definition of "cute" has become quite demented. She has used this word to describe snails, eels, potato bugs, worms, and frogs. All these I would call creepy before I'd think to call them cute.
Image We swam. A lot! Our weather has been cool, so far this year, at home, so Las Vegas was extra hot for us. I think we cooled off in Grama's spool at least once a day....

Image ...including Little Boy Blue!

Image We took the Dam tour! Hoover Dam is really a wonder. To think it was constructed during the Great Depression was an amazing feat of accomplishment.
Image And looking down from the top gives a real feeling of vertigo! Yuck!

Image We played Rock Band with Uncle M. Sugar thought she was so cool. We even tried to get Blue to sing into the microphone... but he's still a little pitchy. He hasn't hit puberty yet. Ha Ha

Image We swam some more. Sugar really slept great, at night, while we were there. Could it be we exhausted her everyday?
Image Did I mention we went swimming?
Image We visited the Dolphin habitat, which was amazing! I can't believe how friendly they are toward people!
Image And Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden. There were leopards and tigers and lions of all variety.
Image Sugar called "here kitty, kitty" a few times. But I was fine with them not coming when they were called.
Image Blue, as usually, thought life in Vegas was great! Life is pretty much great for him all the time, unless he's hungry.
The best part of our weekend-away:SPENDING TIME WITH FAMILY!
After being home a few days, I was doing the laundry and Sugar caught me putting her favorite blanket in the wash and said to me, "No, Mom! Don't wash my blankie, it won't smell like Las Vegas anymore if you do!!!!" So, apparently, Las Vegas also has a smell. Ha ha ha

Phrases at Four

So, it's been a while since I blogged about what Sugar has been saying lately. And since I'm totally entertained by her thought process and what she expresses, I thought I'd share! I'm wondering: Why pay for entertainment when you know a girl as witty as this ?
Image

HERE GOES:

-Grampa's takin' a nap on his bed, so could I go in there and bother him?
-Ok, Ok, CHILL!
-(When asked, "Who made this mess?" Her response:) If I say the dog did it would you believe that?
-I think I enjoy Popsicles!
-Mom, are you always bein' honest with me?
-If you take me to the doctor I will be impossible and hold my shirt down like this the whole time!
-I usually love you Uncle J, but today you'd only get a postcard from me.
-Are you feeding our baby blood when your nursing him?
-Let's be serious, I'm just a kid, OK!
-Is it a bad word to say, "Good Godfrey" or "For the Love"?
-Mom, when you say 'Gramma' do you mean the young, young one you sometimes call MOM, or the old one with gray hair who lives with Bailey and Burt?
-Do all people start the same and then some just turn brown like a banana does?
-(When I tried to explain to her that she can't sleep in bed with me and daddy because then there isn't room for me, She said) "Well sorry, that's just how life goes!"
-My socks are feelin' wiggly, friggly and jiggly all curled up in my shoes.
-(How was sleeping in her big-girl bed?) Good, but sleeping's kind of boring so I have to turn on the light and read a few books first.
-Fireworks drive me nuts! Why can't they just be pretty and not be loud?
-(After leaving a friend) "Can we see them again soon?" (Yes, but we just said goodbye) "Well, let's turn around and say hello!"
And as a FINALE, this one involves a set up:
Not long ago, our little family went out for dinner at a Brazilian buffet that was $18 per person. I wouldn't have minded paying that much for even Sugar, IF SHE HAD EATEN ANYTHING... but no, she just picked at it, didn't drink her milk, and may have eaten 1/2 a roll before she was saying "...but, I'm full". So, when the waiter returned, asking if Sugar was 3, cause kids 3 and under eat for free, JP said "Yeah". But before the waiter had a chance to leave, Sugar asked, "When we get out to the car can I please be four again?"
... needless to say it cost us a BIG TIP, too!

Two Months, Too BiG... Too Fast

Image
So, after the doctor visit here's where he's at:
Weight:
13 lbs 6 ozs
Height:
24 1/2 " long
He's nearly doubled in weight since birth...
maybe I only make cream, who knows!!! Ha Ha
And he's in 80% for both! That's Great!!
When comparing these photo's JP's Mom took when little Blue was 9 Days old....
Image
...And these ones, taken today... Blue is over 2 months.
But in the same outfit: WoW!!!
Image

And he's changing so much everyday!!
Some of these changes are a great deal of fun, like:

-He makes eye-contact when he's talked to, and he even tries to answer in his own little voice, with cooing and giggles. Image

-He's interested in watching anything that creates movement, so he's a huge fan of Sugar's crazy dancing.

-He squirms his chubby little body when he's being tickled or gets excited.

-He hums in his sleep, especially when he falls asleep nursing.

-He has the cutest little dimples when he smiles!!! (But, heaven forbid he should smile at a camera... instead we get a "What is that shiny thing?" look.)

And although I am so happy to see the 'chub' is starting to really stick well on his little thighs and wrists and chin... I DON'T like how it's all happening so fast.

Why can't babies just "keep" a little longer?

Sucked IN!

ImageWe're all allowed a guilty PLEASURE now and again, right? Well, somehow I just got sucked into this!! It's better than a bad train-wreck and OH, thank heaven I have the DVR so if I miss anything, for any reason... Not a problem.... I'll just either PAUSE, or REWIND, cause I don't wanna miss a moment of this drama! Image

I think my first dim memories of the Bachelor series was Ryan and Trista's season. Who couldn't love that? This gorgeous bomb-shell chooses the quiet, gentle Colorado fireman. They marry, have a family... happily ever after. Love it!

ImageBut, then I sort of lost track of the show and didn't pay much attention from season to season... until some how or other I was flipping through and saw the end of Jason's season and I watched him NOT GIVE Jillian a rose. What? She's the beautiful Canadian brunette who wants to marry her best friend. What's not to love? I guess Jason had an issue with the "friend" thing. OK, guess I missed too much of that guy to know what he wants or is talking about. Then when Jillian was chosen to be the Bachelorette I was pretty well hooked. I just really wanted to see this girl find love and a best friend to marry. Well, GEE it would have been nice to know that 'DRAMA' would be the theme to Jillian's season. Why you may ask? Enter: Wes.
ImageWhat a guy Wes was! This fella sure charmed Jillian with his smooth-talkin, "let me write'cha a love song" guitar-playin, Texan-drawl! I watched, along with America, as this wanna-be-country star played her like a fiddle, while hiding his agenda to promote himself and his music. But, week after week, Jillian sent home one Honest Joe after another and KEPT WES right up to the final 5 guys. Then, in the limo, when Wes "the liar" was finally going home, he offered a toast to himself for being the 1st to make it into the top 5 while all the time having a girlfriend back home. EEWWWWwwww.... do you smell that? It's pure jerk flavored!

ImageSo what redeemed the show and kept me watching? JAKE! The dreamy pilot who came back to warn Jillian that Wes was a lying snake! TA ta ta DA... a Knight in Shining Armor if you ask me. But, as Jake always says, "Nice guys finish last" so Jillian didn't listen and Jake went home without finding love.

But, DON'T WORRY all you "Happily Ever After" believers. There is still hope for our Nice Guy Jake! He was chosen to be the bachelor NOW and wow, it's been a ride. From a girl being catch doing naughty stuff with a producer/staff member (yeah, Rozlyn, we know it wasn't caught on video... duh! It was with a producer), then to a girl asking Jake to please send her home (bye, bye Michelle). Of course there's the house full of girls, and their ever loving estrogen wars. Needless to say, I've had my weekly dose of drama just by tuning in!

So how does it end? Will our Pilot be flying far with Vienna, the bold, blunt, blond who is just a tid-bit immature or will he be touring with Tenley, the super-sweet, silly, dancer who seems to finally be over her divorce and in total love with Jake?

Tune in next Monday when the Bachelor Finale airs on ABC.... You know I'll be watching and soaking up all the commerical-interrupted cliff hanger moments. Or maybe I'll wait until after 8:00PM so I can zip the commercials. That's why I love my DVR!
