I'm a fannish butterfly, liking lots of different fandoms, involved in a small number. I love AUs, particularly historical AUs. I love portraits. I can also be tempted by an interesting prompt or challenge to paint something outside my general fannish interests. My prefered artistic medium is digital painting with Painter. I also do traditional work in pencil, ink and gouache.

I have been following Yuletide for many years and enjoying the annual avalanche of fic for rare fandoms. In 2017, for the first time (to my knowledge), art treats were allowed. All the way back in the middle of last year I joined an art tournament on DeviantArt called Dissidia Aces . There are no prizes. It is just for fun and for the challenge (and hopefully good practice for action, anatomy and backgrounds). You choose a Final Fantasy character, and each round you get to paint that character fighting another artist's chosen character. There is also usually an added component like a background or weather condition, which you need to choose from.
I'm now 3 rounds into the tourney, so belatedly :7 characters, 6 games, 4 paintings- Balthier, Fang, Lulu, Sice, Namingway, Squall and Lightning under the cut

mific's prompt: "Stargate Atlantis. John always gets the wings - this time I'd like them both to be flying together. Any setting, any type of wings. :)" I ran with the "Any type of wings" - part of the prompt and ended up with Steampunk AU Goa-uld styled mechanical wings.

In return I received a very cute painting bysqbr of Phryne and Jack (from Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries) dancing and flirting and dressed up their best 20s style. .

Art for the Sutcliff Swap. G rated
Sep. 11th, 2012 10:31 pmI ended up painting a lot over the last couple of months- in 5 different fandoms. Since I've already posted the Underwater-SF-Supernatural-RPF art here (maybe that should count for more than one fandom?) here is the second set!
I finally painted for a fandom ACTUALLY set in Roman times (rather than using any excuse to paint an AU) for the Sutcliff Swap over at AO3 , for books written by Rosemary Sutcliff and got a lovely story for The Mark of the Horselord in return.

Anyone free to do some art beta for me?
I have 3 paintings at the draft stage for SPNJ2BigBang, which could use an different set of eyes looking over them for problems. They are Jensen Ackles /Jeffrey Dean Morgan (I branched out into something different *g*). None of the pictures are over PG in rating, though there is some upper body nudity.

I've been in major Lurking mode for the last couple of months, and lacking the creative energy to paint or to keep up with LJ and DW either(I have so many tabs open and things bookmarked for later reading or commenting).
fanartivation has been doing fanartist interviews and walkthroughs (check it out), and asked me to do their artist interview for January. The interview is here: http://fanartivation.livejournal.com/25581.html

Art: An Unkindness of Crows (G)
Oct. 28th, 2011 06:17 pmFor the deancasbigbang Challenge, and reticentric's story "An Unkindness of Crows" which is an AU based on the movie "The Crow". The story is only Reticentric's first time writing D/C, and it is long, action-packed, full of emotion - and from an illustrator's pov, just chock-full of scenes I wanted to paint (though painting Cas in the iconic sad-clown face paint turned out to be a challenge!).

WIP Steps for the SPN Superhero AU
