Through this booklet, students will learn how to use high-level vocabulary with confidence and precision, an essential skill for the 11+ creative writing exam.

Each worksheet includes 10 high-level vocabulary words linked to a writing prompt. The worksheets feature child-friendly definitions, so the meaning of each word is clear and accessible.

The booklet also introduces my signature “Zoom, Layer, Link” method.

Many students know advanced words but misuse them or fail to apply them in the right context. This is where marks are lost in the 11+ exam. I created this booklet after repeatedly seeing this gap and wanting to offer a targeted solution.

Each worksheet focuses on decoding the word, understanding its context, and using it in a figurative language sentence. This ensures vocabulary is not only learned but purposefully applied in creative writing.

By the end of the booklet, your child will have learned 50 new vocabulary words.

An end-of-booklet test with answers is included.

This booklet is designed to give students a confident head start as they move from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2. With a focus on sentence and paragraph development, this booklet bridges the early writing expectations of Year 2 with the more structured, expressive demands of Year 3.
