How do I gain access to the Overtime Bail Shift Calendar (and Time-Off Request Calendar for FT)?

Refer to the Overtime To-Do List and the New Hire To-Do List (depending on your situation) and follow the instructions there to request access to all necessary calendars.

When will the next survey come out?

Currently, the publishing of the survey happens at the end of every month. Usually during one of the last two weeks of the current month. An email will be sent day of to alert attorneys about its publication. Any of this may change in the future. With notice.

How many weekends does each survey cover?

For the moment, each published survey (until further notice) covers a month of weekend shifts.

How can I increase my chances of being assigned shifts from the survey?

It is recommended you treat the survey as more of a record of your availability during the month. If you aim at working two shifts in a month, and you only choose two shifts in the survey, the likelihood you will be assigned any is decreased. You should also pick third shifts (overnights) when possible. Third shifts are less popular, and thus, can increase your chances of being assigned a shift.

If I anticipate arriving more than 5 minutes late to my shift, how do I notify my shiftmates?

Please notify the chat or someone on shift that you are running late. You can also call the "Call-All" number (61507) that calls all booth phones at once. For the full number, please refer to the "JPC Extension List" link in the ALL PDO (OT and FT) section.

(OT) Can I work less or more than 8 hours on a shift and still be paid OT?

OT pay is only paid out in 8-hour increments. Unless a split-shift is approved, you will not be assigned less than 8-hours to work if there is someone else willing and able to work the whole shift. You will not be paid over 8-hours OT, unless you are approved to work a double (16 hours) or are approved to work a split-shift in addition to a full shift (12 hours). If neither of these situations is the case, any time worked before and after your shift officially starts will be “paid out” in COMP time only and should be recorded as such on your timesheets to avoid issues with HR.

(OT) What is “approved” Overtime?

Any shifts worked on the weekend that are not your usual shift. If you work these, you would have been assigned the shift from the survey or would have covered the shift for someone else. It is possible to earn OT outside of the weekend (usually reserved for FT), but it MUST be approved by Wade in advance.

(OT) How do I record my Overtime worked so I can be paid?

The Overtime must be approved (either a weekend shift or approved by Wade in advance), and will only be paid out in 8 hour increments which can be entered as “Secondary Rate”. If you arrive thirty minutes before your shift, or work thirty minutes past your shift, anything outside the 8 hours must be classified as COMP time. The only way to earn more than 8 hours of overtime in a single day is to pick up multiple shifts (which will require approval) or to be approved for a split-shift (no less than 4 hours) in case of insufficient coverage on a previous or upcoming shift.

(OT and FT) On County Holidays, which overnight shift is the “Holiday”?

On COUNTY holidays, each FT gets “one shift off”. The reason for this curious verbiage is meant to include Overnight workers that technically work two shifts in a single day. Overnight FT gets one shift off, namely the shift “going INTO the holiday”. The shift “going OUT of the holiday” is worked by regular FT BH staff. For example, if a county holiday were happening on a Tuesday, FT BH would be off for the overnight happening from Monday into Tuesday. FT BH would be expected to return to work at 10PM on Tuesday night to work their regular shift. FT BH would indeed receive Holiday Pay for the two hours worked during the holiday. Any confusion, please refer to the Overtime Bail Calendar for specifics on what shifts qualify as holiday shifts.

Please reach out to PDO IT (submit a ticket) to request access. Email me if there are any issues after reaching out to IT. Please give them a little time to get to your ticket. The response may not be immediate as they may be acutely busy in that moment. They will get back to you.

(OT) How do I check my assigned shifts?

All shift information is available on the Overtime Bail Calendar. Everyone should download the Google Calendar app and link their Google Account to the Overtime Calendar for the most accurate, up-to-date information.
