Psychological wellbeing
Anxiety, depression, brain fog and mood swings are just some of the psychological symptoms that thyroid conditions can cause. And yet, they are often 'invisible' symptoms that those around us can struggle to understand. Not only can this make us feel isolated, but it can also make us worry about why we are feeling the way we are. Whilst these symptoms should improve once the thyroid condition is well managed, it can sometimes take a while. We have worked with chartered psychologist, Dr Sue Jackson, to help you better understand the psychological symptoms of thyroid disorders and to provide you with tips for self-care and sources of more support.

The British Thyroid Foundation is a charity dedicated to supporting people with thyroid disorders and helping their families and people around them to understand the condition. Since setting up in 1991 we have worked with medical professionals to ensure that the information we provide is reliable and evidence-based. Our volunteers have first-hand knowledge of thyroid disease, enabling them to help you, whether by phone or at meetings. The British Thyroid Foundation is for anyone who wants to know the facts about thyroid disease. Whatever your type of thyroid disorder we will provide you with information and support.
