2025 Year in Review - CHIPS Communities United
2025 Year in Review - CHIPS Communities United
The world’s largest companies grew even larger in 2025, but a growing movement now calls for accountability from the tech giants. We know the AI boom doesn’t just occur in the cloud; it is rooted in mines, factories, and data centers. It is built by workers and felt felt every day by residents who breathe air tainted by factory emissions, drink water laced with chemical residues, and pay electrical bills elevated by the energy demands of big tech companies. We are honored to be part of this growing movement demanding the AI supply chain must be sustainable, equitable, and accountable to the people. Learn more about what we accomplished last year in our 2025 Year in Review.
Press Release: Protect the Columbia River Against PFAS Pollution
Press Release: Protect the Columbia River Against PFAS Pollution
CHIPS Communities United, the Center for Public Environmental Oversight (CPEO), and other community-based organizations raised concerns over toxic PFAS releases allowed under a draft wastewater permit renewal for chip-maker Analog Devices. The draft permit allows Analog Devices, a large semiconductor manufacturer in Camas, Washington, to release PFAS, also known as toxic “forever chemicals,” into the local sewage system and, from there, into the Columbia River. In response to a call for public comment, the groups sent a letter to the Department of Ecology recommending increased monitoring and stricter limits on PFAS to protect public health and downstream communities.
