open office and excel template repost

I posted this about 20 minutes before the power outage before, so I'm reposting it to make sure poeple get a change to see it. Sorry if that bothers anyone, but it's pissing me off.

Anyone else ever have this problem (or have a solution)? I downloaded an .xlt file (excel template). Everyone else I know who's downloaded it can open it just fine, but when i try using openoffice, I get the following error:

Error loading document file:///home/me/filename.xlt:
Read-Error
This file is passowrd-protected..

Now, nobody else has said that there's a password needed.

I tried to get around it by changing the filename to .xls, but that was no good. opening in vim proved data-like as did kate (not that I expected either to work, I just thought it was worth a shot), so I'm sort of at a loss. If I right click there is no password option, nor would I have a password even if I could produce the prompt.

Any thoughts? Is this just a file that won't open in linux (that seems a bit strange to me)?
