Yes, Xposted. Sorry.
Anyway.
I'm presently working part-time for a medical software and technology company. It's all proprietary stuff, and I signed non-disclosures, etc., so, say nor more about that.
Anyway, they use some graphical devtools that are M$ specific (testpoint). I haven't used windows at home for over three years now, but I acquired a copy of XP from them and installed it on a spare 15gb hdd that I had lying around, installed as hdb. I can mount it (mount /dev/hdb2 /mnt/msdope -t ntfs), but read only, because, as I understand it, my kernel doesn't support rw. If I could get it mounted with rw capability that would be nice, but the big problem here is that I can only boot the XP, at this juncture, by disconnecting my main drive (fedora 1...yes. yes, I have the isos here to upgrade and will within the week).
I've tried to edit lilo to allow the XP drive as an option.
Gave it:
other: /dev/hdb2
name: msdope
table: /dev/hdb
Recompiled lilo, and the entry shows on boot, but when I pass "msdope" to it, it doesn't boot, but just hangs and hangs and hangs and hangs and does nothing.
For a very long time.
Until I give up.
So, basically, I'm looking for a better lilo config to get it booted, I suppose.
I'm half wondering if rewriting lilo when I do the upgrade to my fedora will solve the problem, but don't know.
Anyway.
