ieee1394 under 2.6 kernel series?

Hey all. I'm trying to get ieee1394 working on the my 2.6 box. Basically, I want to grab a DV stream from a camera. This scheme used to work under kernel 2.4, but it seems horribly broken under 2.6. Basically, it can't even see the camera. Googling around, I find that a lot of people are having a lot of problems under 2.6.

Has anyone gotten anything that does DV working under 2.6?
