I just downloaded and installed the nvidia patch (for a geoforce 5200 fx). I'm running Suse9.1.

I got this message (I'm paraphrasing):

Kernel configured to include rivafb support as lodable modual

The driver will be installed but be aware that if the rivafb modual conflicts with the nvida modual

This was the third time I've had to install the patch. The first time I took nvidia's advise and loaded it through YAST, Then for some reason it stopped working, and I got a message saying that I needed to reinstall it. I did, got the message above, all was well for a bout a day, then the patch 'failed' again, and I've now reinstalled it, and have gotten it to work (again).

I'm a complete candy-ass when it comes to kernel stuff. Hos can I check to see if this rivafb modual is installed? Whtat the hell is it?

People say patching the kernel is easy... any links? I vaguely remember fiddling around with a snazzy gui for kernel modual fiddling, but I can't remember what it was called...
