FireWire
I just added an Adaptec FireWire/IEEE1394 card to my Debian box.
When I booted the first time EN0 was disabled and it tried to use Ethernet over IEEE1394 as the default interface, which failed. I removed that module from the ieee1394 driver, rebuilt my kernel, and everything worked fine.
I connected a Mac formatted FireWire drive, mounted it with 'mount -t hfsplus /dev/sda' and it recognized the drive.
I put my Seagate tape drive in an external FireWire case & I'll see if it's recognized.
