it seems everytime I post here I have an ALSA related problem...

kernel 2.6.8, debian sarge

My soundcard works. I turn my speakers on and sounds come out. Not a problem.

However, every time I boot the computer up, ALSA spits errors at me. Twice during boot up, once during shutdown. It also does a lot of beeping, which is quite annoying.

If I run alsamixer, I get the same message (at least I think it's the same, the boot ones vanish before I can write it down):

alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device

however, if I run alsaconf and reconfigure the soundcard, alsamixer works fine afterwards, and I don't get the alsa errors on shutdown. But next time the computer boots, they're back again. Shouldn't it store the settings somewhere and not need reconfiguring every time?
I don't really understand it - the soundcard is working anyway, errors or no errors.
