Getting my girlfriend to switch.....finally.

Fun story time.

So my girlfriend was writing a paper on her computer, which uses windows, and I was like, "I'm totally bored, can we go to my house so I can do something and you can write your paper on my computer?"

She knows that I run linux, but she's never used it. She was using wordpad to write the paper because she didn't know about openoffice and needs cash for Microsoft Office. I told her I had and equivalent to office that she could use.

She started using it and by the time she finished writing her paper, she turned to me and said:

"Would linux run on my computer and if so, can you teach me to use it?"

Of course I'll help someone learn linux. She was using my gentoo box, but I don't really want to start her out on that one. I've had bad luck with hardware recognition with SUSE (I know, they have really good detection, too.), and I don't like mandrake. I thought about Ubuntu or Fedora.

What would you guys suggest? Also, I'm totally stoked that my girlfriend wants to use linux.
