mplayer vs xmms on mp3
Here's an odd issue. There are several mp3 files I have that mplayer can play just fine, but xmms can't seem to play them (oddly enough the mp3 player in my car has issues with some of the same files).
noteable, I have some songs from my black Eyed Peas album that xmms is glossing right over, but mplayer handles them fine. I don't know a whole lot about the plugins that play mp3's and how they work. My instinct would be to say they are configured differently. for example in xmms I'm using MPEG Layer 1/2/3 Player 1.2.10 [libmpg123.so] and it's configured to use the OSS Driver.
Mplayer seems to use OSS as well. And it looks like it has all the codecs that it requires. I'm a bit confused. Am I just stuck not being able to listen to these songs? That makes me sad. I suppose I'll deal, it's not as if it's really important, but it's confusing me something terrible and google didn't turn up much (thanks to all the people who can't play mp3's on these programs at all clogging up the search).
