Network Settings?

OK, so I have SuSE 9.2 installed on one machine. Its running the KDE interface on it. I want to set it up so that I can see and pull files from my Windows XP box on the same network. I shared the drives on the Windows XP box, but when I go to "Network Browsing" -> "Windows Networks" on the Linux box it says it can't find any computers on the network. How do I set it up so that I can see and transfer files? (Ultimately I want to be able to transfer files both ways between the two computers)
