Zope, Plone and SWAT... Must be a similar issue!
I know this is something obvious I've overlooked...
I have Linux box (Mandrake 10.1) with nothing fancy installed on it. Basic webserver technologies, e.g., Apache. No firewall, letting the router handle that.
I've configured and made Zope. Samba runs happily as a client.
Here's the problem; when trying to access via the browser (everything is being done from root) it comes up with "cannot connect to localhost" for the ports (8080 for Zope, 901 for SWAT).
SWAT is quite happy included in xinetd.conf and is included in /etc/services. Zope is running as a process. Neither ports are listed as listening or connected (from a netstat -na), or open (from a nmap test), and telnet is refused on both. There is nothing in host.deny or .allow
