saw an article today in T2 of The Times, the front cover said:
Can you beat Bill Gates?
Questions M$ uses to sort out thr truly creative from merely brilliant.
It displayed the xp logo with questions in the boxes:
Why are manhole covers round rather than square?
How long would it take to move Mt Fuji?
How do you weigh a plane without using scales?
How do they Make M&M's?
The article covered the 'unique' way that M$ filters out its 12,000 CV applicants by asking these questions which are designed to use imagination and creativity...
There was an example question and answer:
How would Bill Gates employ you?
M$ grading points:
0 points = no hire
1 point = no hire
infinity = 1 point = fair
infinity squared + 1 point = the "right" answer
This is absolutely stupid, how can M$ say that they need creative and imaginative people to do their job???? They started by nicking DOS from IBM, then nicked the windows GUI idea from Macintosh. Not only that they extortionise and monopolise the computing area, if anyone tries to beat M$ then a lawsuit is attempted to be filed against them and the threat goes away. I remember an article saying that he tried (or was thinking at least) to get rid of the linux community by getting the hardware manufacturers to fiddle the BIOS for microsoft only products!
Another stupid question on the article:
How would you design Bill Gate's bathroom?
My answer:
Firstly look at designs from Ikea, and the like, and steal an idea from the best design. Get a copyright on the 'newly nicked' design so no one can copy it and try to file a lawsuit if someone does. Get Bill Gates to buy a daily licence to use the bathroom and charge him £1000 per licence. Only part build the bathroom with faulty equipment, that is designed to work sometimes, and fix the bathroom a bit at a time on a 'patch' basis.
