Need some ideas.

Just switched to Kubuntu linux... my system is already about a gazillion times faster, but I have no internet. Tapped into the modem fine and the account is set up and says it's up and running, dsl light is on on modem like usual but when I try to visit a site, like Verizon.com I get..

An error occurred while loading
http://www.verizon.com

Timout on server

also got a message earlier (might have been a wrong pass earlier, have proper pass now) about something on port 80.

It won't ping either. Any ideas on what to try here folks?
