Opengl and Alsa setup
I run gentoo and use an nvidia Geforce5500fx to run opengl plugins for xmms.
First off I notice the frame rate is abysmal when I boot up linux. I have to manually do a "opengl-update xorg-x11" before I get a normal frame rate which probably means Xorg is using the software based glx mesa driver by default. I see the nvidia logo when X starts up so I know my xorg.conf file is correct and the driver is loaded.
Also I noticed when I do an "opengl-update nvidia" it will crash my system when I run glxgears or any opengl app.
Last by default Alsa is muted when I boot Linux. I have to manually unmute the volume controls every time which is getting annoying.
Is there a way where I can have both the default Xorg nvidia driver and unmuted sound controls load at startup?
Thanks
