Gentoo

Ok, have the Slackware box all set up, and I am looking to branch out abit. I have read alot on here about Gentoo and am looking for some opinions on it. I have been reading on it and it looks nice, how is it in saty if there is one to Slackware?. Not that I will abandon Slackware, but we all know here that we love to check out and tinker with other stuff. any help, suggestions, advice would be great.
