Annoying Error with NIS Auth
I recently figured out how to use NIS for centralized authentication between my 3 RHE3 servers. However, I have been annoyed by an error that occurs every time anyone logs in. I'm hoping that someone has an idea of why this is occuring.
The Error:
Could not chdir to home directory /users/USERNAME: Permission denied
This error occurs after I type in my password but before I get to the first prompt. The odd part about it is that it does chdir into /users/USERNAME and the user has no problems reading/writing/executin from within that directory. The users directory is running off an NFS share. That may have something to do with it; I don't know.
Any ideas?
As a side note, I've been told that LDAP would be a better option than NIS, but I have even less clue what I'm doing there. Does anyone have any opinions on that or some pointers on where to get started?
