ubuntu melt down
My system has been running very well, barring the sudden and unexpected death of my greeter. So Imagine my surprise when I come home today and start up my machine and it tells me that since it's been mounted 30 times without a filesystem check it will force one. And then I'm even more dismayed when it finds tons or filesystem errors, stops the check, asks me to fun fsck myse;f and then afterward everyhting is outright gone. I can't even get into teh grub menu to access my stupid windows partition!
Any decent advice here? I don't really want to reinstall, but I may not have a choice. I'm really tempted to just put an old system together and use that instead, but it would be a terrible waste of this nice new system, wouldn't it?
I'm getting the error 24 in grub, which i believe means that it can't find the operating system in some way or other. I'm most unhappy.
Anyone have a good plan?
Also, anyone know how I can turn off that stupid filesystem check to stop this from happening again?
