Gentoo

I figured I'd post this lot of people bash gentoo and, to some extent, with good reason, but I got a new system and I figured I'd try it out.
Now, I still think slackware is a FAR superior distro for servers (because it takes way less time to set up and generally has a better init control system), and Ubuntu is generally better for noobs, however, I was REALLY impressed with gentoo. There are still some issue I have with it, but in a lot of ways it was easier to set up than Slackware and it has far better repositories. My biggest issues with slackware were that Swaret wasn't included with the base distro and the repositiories didn't have a lot of stuff I wanted. The best thing I've found so far with gentoo is the fact that almost every program I want is in portage and I can recompile everything to work with everything else with very little configuration. There's also excellent community support.
Getting a system up and working is a pain in the ass, but once it's up management is incredibly easy.

Anyone have any experiance with gentoo? likes? dislikes?
