I've just reinstalled Gentoo (amd64) from a stage 1. Everything works great, except for ALSA. On boot, I get a snd-*** not found error telling me it cant find the drivers. I've looked on various forums and I did actually find where someone had the same problem but the solution for it didnt work for me. I'm using on board VIA 82xxxx AC 97 sound, and am at a total loss as to where to go with it. I tried recompiling and installing PCI soundblaster live 5.1, with the same result. What I'm using now are modules compiled from the kernel, but also used alsa-drivers (after disabling alsa from the kernel of course) and no progress there. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. (and to clear any question, i did disable the on-board when I used the soundblaster, and used the emu10k1 driver instead of the via 82xxxx one)
