Looking for a good distro

Have Mandrake 10.1 installed, but it seems that all the mandrake websites are all down. Does anyone know if Mandrake is "dead" or if they are just reorganizing. And if they are dead what would be a good distro to be able to use. I primary need general stuff, but also a lot of multimedia support. But also want to run an ftp server on it, since this box will be going in the living room to connect to the stereo for mp3 playing and for browsing the net from time to time.
