wireless card installed but not connecting in ubuntu

I have a dell 600m with a broadcom wireless card.

I am running ubuntu 5.10.

Last night I followed the step by step how to on how to install a broadcom card using ndiswrapper and it worked perfectly, i was able to surf the web all night and most part of this morning.

this morning will looking at some forums the connection died, no packets going in or out...

I reboot thinking it may fix it and well what do you know 0 packets sent and 0 recieved.

i used network setting to deactivate and activate but still no help, there are 4 wifi networks in my building and it finds none..

next i undid the ndiswrapper and redid it thinking it was the call. My wireless card still shows up but no connection.

I do not want to set a essid because i am not going to use this on just my home network.

any clues on what the issue is, also the access point is listed as all 0's
