buying a laptop

I've become very frustrated by my non-portable laptop (the screen doesn't work, so I have to plug in an external monitor), and I want to replace it. However, it seems like any new laptop that I'd buy would include all sorts of software I don't want, like office suites, virus protection and, of course, windows. While I can opt out of some of these options, depending on the company, windows seems to be a sticking point, and I'd really like to save the money by not having it. does anyone know where I could get a laptop with either no software pre-installed, or at least only free software pre-installed?
