Something I installed seems to be conflicting with ALSA.  The system sounds aren't working, and if I try to test the sound (in the K Control Center) or play a song in XMMS, the app just hangs.  OSS works fine in XMMS, so it's most likely a problem with ALSA.

Any clue where I should start looking, and what I might want to be looking for?

[UPDATE]
It appears to have been some sort of hiccup in my system.  A simple restart fixed my problem.  :)  **feels stupid**
