New to the community. I actually joined it because I am curious. Some kids at college were talking about computer stuff and linux, and I had not a clue what they were talking about. So I went to the website and glanced around and I am still a little unsure...what exactly is linux? I know you must think I am an idiot :)

My computer is just a gateway computer with WindowsME and besides that...I know nothing...at the site I saw you can replace windows with Linux and stuff...I am still not exactly sure what it is though.
