Thinkpad 770 Sound Issues
Currently, I am running Debian 3.1 on an IBM Thinkpad 770 I've had for years. In the past, I've run a 2.6.X series kernel and the sound actually worked on it. However, due to the fact that it's an older machine (Pentium-MMX 233 with 96M of RAM), and 2.6.X kernels run more slowly on it than the 2.4.27 kernel I'm running right now, I'd like to stick with 2.4.27.
There's one issue. The sound. By all rights, it should work with the isapnp support compiled into the kernel, and the cs4232 kernel driver. It doesn't though. It seems that no matter what I do, I just cannot get the cs4232 driver to "see" the sound card. The sound card does sit on the ISA bus, but for some reason, nothing's seeing it, and trying lspnp or cat /proc/bus/pnp doesn't work.
Suggestions? Is there something I'm totally missing here? I vaguely remember that you have to put some extra lines into the modutils conf files somewhere, too... but I can't remember what.
