linking ot a smb machine

While I'm at it, I don't know if this is just an Ubuntu issue (it seems likely not) or a gnome issue (the most likely culprit, IMO).

If I go through the networks option inhte places menu in gnome I can navigate, via a windows network, so another linux machine (centos) running samba and get at my shared files. Fine.

I cannot bookmark this directory in nautilus as it does not provide a bookmark option as Konqueror would. I can't seem to add to the places menu and if I right click gnome gives me a "link" option, but I get an error trying to create the link ("unsupported Operation" while creating link to smb:///rosslin/convert/temp). Any thoughts on this? My workers are not particularly good with the momorization and I don't want this girl to have to navigate through the network each time she opens this file when I could just make a link to it (if I can make a link to it).
