Bluetooth and Ringtones.

So, I just bought a new phone today. I have two things I'd like to do with it. Connect it to my computer via bluetooth for ringtone and background image upload. Make new ringtones for it by cutting up mp3s from my current collection.

For the former, I'm curious if anyone can name brands/models of bluetooth dongles that they've had luck getting to work with the ubuntu. I see things in my menus already talking about bluetooth, I just don't have any sort of adapter yet. And if it makes any difference, I'm actually using kubuntu.

As for the ringtone thing, well, I've seen that it'll play the short mp3 files as ring tones, I just don't know what sort of program is good at cutting the files shorter so I have a ringtone sized clip instead of a song sized clip. I really don't want to pay anywhere from $2 to $5 for clips of songs I already own and therefore should just be able to modify myself.
