essential software

what would you guys consider to the essential software on your machine? something that you use almost every day and cant live without. stuff like gkrellm and xmms, or programs you love that most people dont know about.

for me, it would probably be: gaim, klickety, xmms, tuxracer, fortune's firefly quotes pack, eterm, and tvtime.
