Mandrake 8.2 Problems

I just installed Mandrake Linux 8.2. Everything installed fine, but when I boot up, it will sit for at least 5 or more minutes, saying something about checking dependencies. The hard drive does not access at that time. The other message I get when it first starts is something about /dev/fb0 not found. Any help is appreciated. If it doesn't work out, I think I'll continue my Linux distribution search.
