got a new HD to move stuff onto

what tricks do you guys (apropos, would someone just pull a poll to realize how many girls this community lists, if any? :))) use to copy big amounts of data from place to place, namely harddisk to harddisk in this case? dd, tar, .sync? or just plain old mv?
