holy crap i just happened upon a REALLY REALLY old dell laptop... it's got 48 megs of ram, a cd drive and a floppy drive. it has no hard drive.
how should i use this laptop? right now, i'm taking all suggestions that don't require putting a hard drive in.
it has no usb and has no ethernet either, so in the ideal situation, i'd boot from a floppy and read things from cd (media playing? i wonder if that's possible) or boot from teh cd and write to the floppy (more reasonable, but not nearly as cool).
GIVE ME IDEAS.
wow, i'm gonna go plug in my old 3.5" drive into my desktop so i can make floppies ^_^
actually, this thing probably is too old to boot from the cd directly... anyone know how to get around that?
EDIT: yes, it is too old to boot from a cd... we're working only with floppies, boys. also, the pins for the hard drive aren't the same as the mini ide that is in my laptop now so i don't think i could give this thing a hard drive if i wanted to.
there IS pcmcia... which i could probably work with somehow, although i own no pcmcia cards...
EDIT AGAIN: i got my floppy drive working on my desktop and have a functional dedicated nethack computer by using "nethack linux" which is a floppy distro that... BOOTS INTO NETHACK.
so from here, i think the goal is to get a boot floppy that will help me boot from cd and hopefully boot into a (remastered and stripped down) puppy linux. sweet.
