This is probably slashdot fodder, but I don't hang out there.
There's a research team at Microsoft developing a research OS from scratch. You may have heard of Singularity. Internal anti-marketing blogers Ch9 have released another video interview with some of the team showing off their work so far.
Is it just me or does that look so very *nixy? The things they speak to, PIDs, Hardware protection, allocation, kernel behaviour, etc all sound so terribly familiar. Am I missing something in their excitement?
Wine doing weird stuff
This is MS related also, lol. Running IE6 and Flash9 under Wine I noticed a flash video popup window after a while made my Gnome Panel turn black. The colour and buttons were restored when I hovered over the widgets or forced a redraw by changing the panel's size.
How can one application affect another so strangely?
