moving /home
Hello once again.
I'm sorry I have so many questions. I just have so many things to figure out, and you all have been a huge help.
The first time I set up my computer, I had /home point to my documents partition. However, when I upgraded Ubuntu from Breezy to Dapper, I was faced with massive permissions errors, and chowning my user directories back to my user account didn't seem to help.
So the next time I simply left /home on the system partition and mounted my documents partition as /documents. However, I'm finding that there are some disadvantages to that, and I'd like to change things if I can. So, my question is twofold:
1) Is there a way I can trasnfer my /home directory to the other parition and then mount that partition as /home from now on?
2) If I must at any point reinstall my system, how can I avoid facing permission errors again? It seems like everyone keeps /home on another partition anyway, so I must be missing something simple.
Thanks!
