How to install Nvidia driver in Kubuntu?
Simple question, with many varying and frustrating results!
I have been spending the last 4 hours on this. How do I install the Nvidia driver in Kubuntu 6.06.1? I googled this but nothing worked. I tried downloading the Nvidia driver from their website. I installed the kernel-header-2.6.17 and kernel-source-2.6.17. I then ran the *.run package from the nvidia.com website. It tells me that I don't have the kernel-source tree installed. So then I go back and notice that the kernel-headers and kernel-source is not even installed. In fact, it won't even show up in Adept (Synaptics Package Manger, for you Ubuntu folks)! So now I'm thinking I hosed my system. Why is it a pain to install Nvidia drivers in Linux? Someone just give me a quick 1-2-3 on how to do this and I would be most pleased. MOST PLEASED!
