Computer Woes

As usual, something doesn't work, I think I have this innate ability to jam technology around me.

I had finally gotten the net and then was unable to access the ubuntu repositories (6.06), thinking maybe they were down I waited a few days. I saw Imagethechekist at school the one day, and he was able to update on his laptop as was my roommate Jimmy.

Maybe my source list was off, I tried several different source lists from varying places such as Jimmy, and also the internet (namely Ubuntu Guide) I also tried putting on the regional codes, changing the codes, and even removing.

Maybe it was my gpg key, again, I tried making one (yes, I have one Andy's PGP Key it is the first one. I tried getting rid of them, I tried downloading others, I tried defaults. Maybe my mirror went all wonky, so I reinstalled and I got this:

I thought maybe it was still all fucked up, so I downloaded from a different mirror and got the same error. It will finish the installation, but I still have no access to repositories. Can't update, can't install new software, can't upgrade.

I wondered if maybe it was our internet connection, I'm hardwired into the router, and Jimmy is wireless, he can connect to the repositories. It isn't the router because I was able to connect to them last year, using the same router. I am able to browse, chat, stream, download, upload.... but not update, install, or upgrade. I don't think it is the ISP, we are using 3 web, but they are renting the cables from Rogers, and we used Rogers last year and I still had access to the repositories.

I wondered if maybe it was just Ubuntu for some reason, I tried Damn Small Linux which I borrowed from one of my other roommates Sameen. I can still use that security hole they call Windows Update. I was in windows using VMware and could access the repositories using Ubuntu 5.10, which I upgraded to 6.06, and then 6.10 through VMware. I could not do it through VMware using Xubuntu 6.06.

I am all out of ideas, between Jimmy and I, I think that we have tried everything, and this whole thing defies logic. I've grown very frustrated with both this problem and using windows all the time.

I can access the repositories in a browser, but apt can't seem to access them, the interface says it failed to connect, and when I do it in command it says there was an error, and is ignoring the packages.

Linux hates me, and I don't know why

**EDIT**
I have included the 'apt-get update' output that I should have included in the first place
