[MAIL FOLDER "INBOX" CLOSED DUE TO ACCESS ERROR]

I am constantly getting that error in pine. Not only does it require me to restart pine, I have reason to believe it kills all the messages in the inbox. Any ideas on how to fix this, or at least why this is happening?
