XMMS IS DEAD!!!!

Xmms has been officially unsupported for about 3 years, but they're finally pulling from portage. No more XMMS for me.... wow... it's a huge loss....
You see, my friendship with XMMS goes way back. When MP3s came out, I was there. When napster came out, I was there. My biggest hobby in highschool was collecting music. Let me explain the magnitude of this obsession: on a dialup, running at a top speed of 45k, I downloaded 2 gigs of mp3s. Yeah, it took me 2 years of being online 8-10 hours a day.. but I did it. I did take time off for summer break (I went to my dad's and was seperated from my computer), but most of my time spent online...getting music. When I switched to linux the first thing I thought was "HEY!!! Where's WinAMP?????" Fortunately I found XMMS. XMMS is like winamp2... in fact, it's compatible with winamp2's skins. Plus you can do all kinds of cool stuff with it like run mplayer through it with the xmmplayer plugin. I had this awsome media scheeme worked out just using XMMS, and it reminded me of my old friend WinAMP. Well... those days are over. XMMS is officially being pulled from portage (I believe the date is) November 28th.
I'm not mad that XMMS is being pulled out of portage. I know it's a good thing... but I'll miss this old piece of software. Goodbye XMMS.... hello audacious.
