timeclock and mysql

I followed some good advice given here and downloaded timeclock 1.03. The install was less than self explanitory, but once I refamiliarized myself with mysql a bit, no biggie.

Except.

I can get onto timeclock just fine, but I receive a ton of mysql errors. Commonly:

Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid
Warning: mysql_free_result(): supplied argument is not a valid

That's it, but it seems to be a pattern. I get each a few times. ALso, I can't log in using the admin login supplied by the login instructions.

If anyone can make a good suggetion here, I'd be grateful. Mysql is not my bag of rice.
