I'm looking for someone to recommend a free IRC-like server to run on Fedora Linux.
My development group at work would like a way to easily have text chats among ourselves no matter what office anyone's in at the moment. We don't want to use an instant messenger, because we want anyone in the group to be able to drop out and come back later and see any discussion that's happened since they've been gone.
We don't want to use IRC itself, because it seems a bit old and clunky for our needs, and we don't need all the functionality it provides.
Any recommendations?
Addendum: I think what we need is web chat software. Can anyone recommend something good?
