Laptops

This is probably half off topic, but I'll ask anyway. I want to buy a laptop soon. Are there any useful prejudices that you have with regard to manufacturers and hardware? I presume that pretty much all laptops work with Linux these days, but if you have any tips that would narrow my buying options, I'd love to hear them.
