ITT was a massivw mistake for my hope
well after 2 days and my experience in conversationheres some email I sent to my dad last night on the topic.
-----------------------
Well, hmmm... I have been in the field for a long time and just applied at ITT 2 months ago just to say I know my stuff with some documentation. but in this first week I been noticing more and more BS coming from the school.
first off I tried to test out of courses and it asked arbitrary questions in order to keep me shelling out money for their courses frankly I am A+ certified and these tests were asking me very arbitrary questions, That I am sure 95% of industry techs don't know as they are useless knowledge(the dean re-assured me of this to be true), and half the second class all it was was the teacher talking about himself and random crap to pass time.
Secondly, now that I think about it my math professor was second guessing himself over and over sticking to low numbers. I was talking too the dean of the CNS program last night, it was made clear that I will probably be bored in most of the classes as all the information will be review and I have the option of heading a class and creating a separate curriculum which most the students would not be able to comprehend never mind be able to do.
I originally applied just to focus on Linux administration as I have become to hate Microsoft since my MCSA course, and having a MCP is virtually useless,I have learned from other admins in the field. I am in a class with a bunch of no knowledge people and am utterly disgusted with the curriculum I have seen so far.
When an instructor actually dean in this case doesn't realize what a Beowulf Cluster or a Neural Network is, it is understood I am in trouble. I probed a little bit on explanations of Terra-flops and received rather crooked ,unsure Waverly answers. I am told I could head my own class in advanced skill-sets and system/network experimentation as another way to waste my time. I am rather discouraged reading some of these other horror stories online seeing either similar or negative perspectives of the school online.
ITT is a profit organization with low class graduation rates as most students learn its low standards of education. in 2004 they faced a $715,000,000 lawsuit that they escaped just barely, 3 of the 5 of their training courses a posted on ripoff report.com they are nationally accredited meaning the credits are non-transferable and standards are usually deemed lower than regionally accredited schools as they are not governed under state or federal educational standards. so its better not to throw money in a $30,000 money-pit with high interest loans.
Believe me I am truly disappointed in this knowledge as I am grasping straws of hope just to get my accreditation. so facing this destructive force in our society just to have papers that truly have no real real-life basis to them other than book smarts seems like a losing battle.

Adam,
It must be quite disappointing to find that the path
you saw hope on turns out to be other than what it
appeared. Your mother and I have been on that path to
often our selves.
Let's make this a positive experience by taking what
you've learned and seeking out an opportunity that
better fits your goals and needs.
It's important to give recognition to your gut
feelings and identify where they are coming from. I'm
proud of you for doing that, it's a sign of attaining
a maturity that many people never reach.
Now let's find a better solution to what you were
aiming for. I'm behind you on this.
Dad
