So yesterday I installed Ubuntu on my laptop to have a dual-boot setup. However, I've been having issues getting wireless internet working. I know from searching around the internet that this is a common problem, but every fix I've seen posted has not worked for me.

From what I can gather, my problem lies in the fact that, for whatever reason, there is no "wlan0" recognized. When I run ifconfig/iwconfig, I get information back for "eth1" only. (I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense, I'm trying to report from memory because I switched back to Vista in order to get back on the internet.) I can get internet from a landline. I got my wireless light to turn on by installing the bcm43xx-fwcutter driver (I think that's what it was), but when I try to connect to my wireless network, it prompts me for the network key and then proceeds to just not connect. It sees the networks, but just doesn't connect to them.

I've seen endless fixes for this problem, but none of them seem to address a lack of "wlan0" appearing anywhere, which I'm guessing is my problem. And it might not be, because I don't really know what I'm doing. But in all the fixes that I've seen posted all include messing with a "wlan0" which apparently I don't even have enabled. Anybody know what my error is here?
