Linux on a HP Pavilion zv5255us
I have recently decided that I am sick of fucking around with Windows at all. So, I installed Ubuntu. Surprisingly, it actually worked better than Windows XP and many times better than Vista. My only problem is that I could not get my headphone jack to work. My speakers worked under the ALSA drivers that Ubuntu 7.10 installs, but the headphone jack gives me nothing, and I use that every day while I'm at work. No one at my job would enjoy listening to Baroque era opera. I think they would rather have a root canal. I have a HP Pavilion zv5000, with the actual serial number being zv5255us.
That all being said, I am a newbie on Linux and Ubuntu. When I say 'newbie', I mean I've used it for two days. Before that, barely heard of it. Everything works on my laptop except for my headphone jack. Below is the specs of my laptop from hp.com. Any help would be appreciated. And if anything is posted, please try to keep my ignorance in mind? Please? I know nothing of Linux, except for the fact that it's free and I somehow got everything working except the headphone jack.

I was wondering if it was the ALSA drivers in and of themselves, because I can press the buttons on the front of the laptop all I want, and it doesn't do anything, but if I change the volume inside of the Rhapsody Multimedia player (I think that's what it's called, but I could be wrong) that comes in Ubuntu, I can change the volume and what not. That doesn't really bother me at all, except that the headphone jack doesn't work.
Please help me and forgive my ignorance.
